This Friday, Jelly Jar plays an old club with a new name. You may know it as Penny Lane, but, on March 25, Jeff Hypnarowski, John Brady, Ken Africano, Bill Savino, and special guest Frank Geracitano perform two sets of soul and R&B from 8:00 to 11:00 pm at the Lion and Eagle Pub at 10255 Main St, Clarence. Great sound/ great food. It's always a party!

Nice stage and sound system. Great acoustics and plenty of seats to get food and drinks. The place has a fun vibe.
Jelly Jar plays its second Friday of every month gig at the 31 Club this Friday. March 13, from 9 to 12. 31 N. Johnson St. Buffalo. The line up is Jeff Hypnarowski, vocals, Ken Africano, keys, Bill Savino, bass, John Brady, guitar and Steve Connelly, drums. Always a party.
Jelly Jar has been together for about 25 years and we have been through a lot of good times and a few bad ones. In October of last year, Jeff’s eleven year old son Sammy suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm. He was one of few who survived and has been through half a dozen surgeries and still has more to come. He is constantly improving but recovery and rehab will go on for a long time. This fundraiser will raise money for a third party trust and will use the money to cover uncovered costs and special needs. If there is extra money it will go to a children’s health charity.
It will also be a fun gig. Four hours of music on an afternoon with Jelly Jar and Tiger Chung Lee. We will be bringing up some of Jelly Jar’s old friends like Vince Mastrantonio and i expect Eric Crittenden and others from Tiger Chung Lee will join us at times.
Jelly Jar plays Friday. Feb 14. Club 31. Line up is Jeff, Bill, John and me plus Steve Connelly on drums. I know some people are going to Club 31 for a great Valentines Day dinner followed by some live soul and rnb by Jelly Jar. It sounds like a good night.
Back by popular demand, Jelly Jar will be starting its regular first Friday of every month shows at Club 31 in October of 2019.
Jelly Jar plays Friday Oct. 4 from 9 to 12 at the 31 Club at 31 N. Johnson Park in the city. The line up for the first gig is Jeff Hypnarowski, Ken Africano, Bill Savino, John Brady and John Olivier (filling in for Kevin on drums). For you regulars out there we will be starting the fall/winter playing season with some new songs and some of our favorite new additions in years. Think Lauryn Hill meets Booker T., Hall and Oates meet Lou Rawls and Sade meets James Brown. Put it another way, it is Jelly Jar making songs their own.
Saturday May 18 Jelly Jar plays Buffalo Porchfest at Inn Buffalo, 619 Lafayette Ave. from 4:45 to 6:00. JJ’s own, Ken Africano, is helping owners Joe and Ellen Latieri organize the music for the afternoon. The show starts at 1 pm with Two Down — Ken Africano on keys, JJ’s Bill Savino on bass — plus lots of lawyer musician friends from Lawyers for the Arts. At 2:30 The Original Artsyfacts play, followed by Rabbit Jaw at 3:30. Rabbit Jaw has JJ’s John Brady on guitar. Mike Reville on bass. Erin Bahn, who you may have seen at Lawyers for the Arts, will be doing her performance art best in full costume. Check out www.rabbitjaw.com. Jelly Jar finishes the show. Plus we are working on having a gourmet hamburger stand set up and Joe Latieri has been known to be talked into a tour of the Inn.
Jelly Jar performs at Eckl’s at Larkin, 703 Seneca St. Buffalo on May 17 from 5 pm - 8 pm. You may have heard of Eckl’s from the south towns. It has been an established restaurant since 1934. Jim Cornell purchased it and opened a new Eckl’s at Larkin last year. It continues the Eckl’s tradition of great food and the new restaurant is big and beautiful. We are looking forward to playing our first gig there. Hopefully the weather will cooperate enough to allow us to open the garage doors and get some sunshine as well. One way or the other, consider coming out right after work and enjoying this great new establishment and some Jelly Jar tunes.
New year; new venue: Jelly Jar plays its first 2019 show at a new brewery: The Thin Man in Elmwood Village. Hear Jeff Hypnarowski, John Brady, Kevin Roth, Bill Savino and Ken Africano play two sets of R&B/Soul from 10:00 pm to 1:00 am on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the latest Shatzel restaurant. Craft beer and live music-it's always a party!
